Different spellings and forms of Bunyan across languages
The word bunyan (بُنْيَان) appears in the Quran multiple times, most notably in Surah At-Taubah (9:109), where it is used as a metaphor for the foundation of one's faith and deeds. The verse contrasts two types of foundations: one built on piety and divine pleasure, which is strong and enduring, and another built on the edge of a collapsing cliff, representing weak faith. This metaphorical use illustrates the Quranic emphasis on spiritual and moral foundations. The term also appears in other surahs in contexts relating to physical structures and spiritual edifices, reinforcing its importance in Islamic scripture.
