This is a compound Arabic name combining 'Abd' (عَبْد), meaning 'servant' or 'slave of,' with 'al-Muwaffi' (المُوفِي), derived from the root و-ف-ي (W-F-Y), meaning 'the one who fulfills,' 'the one who completes,' or 'the one who delivers.' In Islamic tradition, al-Muwaffi is understood as one of the divine attributes, referring to Allah's perfect fulfillment of His promises and covenants. The name therefore means 'the servant of the One Who Fulfills His Promises,' emphasizing devotion to God's perfect faithfulness.

While the name 'Abd al-Muwaffi' itself does not appear directly in the Qur'an, it is derived from the root و-ف-ي (W-F-Y) and the attribute al-Muwaffi. The concept of fulfilling covenants and promises (al-wafa) is deeply embedded throughout the Qur'an. Multiple verses emphasize the importance of fulfilling covenants and oaths, and the Qur'an affirms that Allah is the One Who perfectly fulfills His promises.

[It is] a true promise [binding] upon Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur'an. And who is truer to his covenant than Allah? So rejoice in your transaction which you have contracted. And it is that which is the great attainment.”
