من (ح س ب) نسبة إلى حَسِيب.
Hasibiyy is a nisba (attribute-based) adjective derived from the Arabic root ح س ب (H-S-B), which carries meanings of reckoning, accounting, nobility, and sufficiency. The name is formed by adding the nisba suffix (-iyy) to Hasib, creating a relational noun that denotes 'one who is like Hasib' or 'of the nature of Hasib.' In Arabic linguistic tradition, nisba adjectives indicate belonging, attribution, or resemblance to a quality, person, or place. The root حسب encompasses concepts of honor, lineage, and the ability to calculate or reckon.

Different spellings and forms of Hasibiyy across languages
The root H-S-B (حسب) appears frequently in the Quran, most notably in the phrase 'Wa kafaa billahi hasiba' (وكفى بالله حسيبا), which means 'And sufficient is Allah as an accountant/reckoner.' This phrase emphasizes Allah's divine attribute of being Al-Hasib (the Reckoner, the Accountant), indicating His perfect knowledge and ability to judge all deeds. Hasib represents someone who embodies the quality of reckoning, accounting, and just judgment. The Quranic usage emphasizes the importance of honesty, accountability, and the divine judgment that will occur on the Day of Judgment.
