The name originates from classical Arabic linguistic roots found in the Arabian Peninsula. It is derived from the verb قَهَرَ (qahara), which appears throughout classical Arabic literature and speech.
In Arabic and Islamic culture, names derived from the Q-H-R root have been valued for their association with strength, justice, and divine power. The feminine form Qahurah represents a woman of formidable character and capability. Though not extremely common in modern times, such names reflect the classical Arabic tradition of naming children after virtuous and powerful attributes.
Different spellings and forms of Qahurah across languages
While the name Qahurah itself does not appear directly in the Quran, it is derived from the root Q-H-R (قَهَرَ-قَاهِر), which appears multiple times in the Quranic text. The word 'Al-Qahir' (The Subduer/The Irresistible) is used as one of the divine attributes of Allah in Surah Al-An'am (6:18 and 6:61), referring to His absolute power and dominion over all creation. The feminine form Qahurah takes this powerful concept and applies it to an individual, particularly a woman, embodying this quality of strength and dominion.

“Thus have We sent you amongst a people before whom other peoples have (also) passed away; that you might rehearse unto them what We send down unto you by inspiration; yet they reject (Him,) the Most Merciful! Say: 'He is my Lord! there is no god but He: on Him is my trust, and to Him is my return.'”

In Arabic abjad numerology, the number 3 represents creativity, communication, and expression, combined with the strength and power of the Q-H-R root.
