من (ص ح ب) جمع صَحَابي: من لقى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم مؤمنا ومات على الإسلام.
Sahaaba (صَحَابة) is the plural form of Sahabi (صَحَابي), derived from the Arabic root ص-ح-ب (s-h-b) meaning 'to accompany' or 'to keep company.' In Islamic terminology, it refers specifically to those who had direct contact with the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) while he was alive, believed in him, and remained steadfast in Islam until their death. This is a noun of collective nature that has become a historical and religious designation rather than a personal name in modern usage.

The name originates from classical Arabic and Islamic historical terminology. While traditionally used as a collective noun to describe the Prophet's companions rather than as a personal name, it has occasionally been adopted as a feminine given name in modern Arabic-speaking communities.
In Islamic culture, 'Sahaaba' holds immense spiritual and historical significance as it encompasses the generation that directly learned from and lived alongside Prophet Muhammad. The Companions are revered as exemplars of Islamic practice, and their traditions, narrations, and actions form the foundation of hadith and Islamic jurisprudence. As a personal name, Sahaaba represents a connection to this esteemed historical legacy and embodies the values of companionship, faith, and loyalty to Islamic principles.
